What Causes Chronic Neck Pain While On Warfarin For AFib?

Hi I am on warfarin as I have AF. I have a chronic neck problem which causes me constant pain in varying degrees. This has been ongoing for over two years now. It got worse after I had an aortic valve replacement 18 months ago. What regular pain control, if any do you recommend. I am a 72 year old fairly fit woman. I have had to give up playing golf due to the neck pain. However, a MRI scan has not shown any major problem. I have been seen by the physio department in my local hospital. They gave me exercises to do which helped a little but never took away the pain. In fact after a time the exercises seemed on many occasions to give me more pain. Can you help me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience with neck pain after an aortic valve replacement and following usage of warfarin for Atrial fibrillation I am suggesting that you have developed the following differential diagnosis

Acute tendinitis
Myositis
Nerve root lesion
SLE
Multiple sclerosis
Migrating arthritis
Cervical spondylitis
Spinal stenosis

In view of this please do the following test
Rheumatoid factor
ANA electrophoresis
Cervical x-ray
Serum creatine kinase
ESR
C-REACTIVE PROTEIN

Meanwhile please see an orthopaedic specialist with the results and for expect clinical evaluation as well as adequate drug prescription

Moreover please take some opioids pending your appointment

I hope this helps Regards
