What Causes Chronic Numbness In Toes With Lower Leg Pain?
hello. I have numbness in my right three middle toes and pain going down the outside of my calf. I first noticed it two years ago then I suffered an L5 hearniation and got a stearoid shot. Been recovering from that but the pain and numbness still remains in the foot and lower leg. not sure but I think the lower leg and foot could be something other than the back problem because it gave me pain before the back problem. also numb under the outer edge of my foot. thank you for your help, Bryan
Your symptoms could be related to S1 nerve compression or tarsal tunnel syndrome. For this reason, I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and performing nerve conduction studies in order to exclude possible tarsal tunnel syndrome. The next step to follow would be performing a new lumbar spine MRI.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
