Hi there,

The most common cause of pain and swelling in one calf is blood clot, or a deep vein thrombosis. You can test for this by having an ultrasound done on the extremity that is involved.

The treatment is usually blood thinners and elevation. I'd recommend getting an ultrasound of the affected calf.

I hope I have answered your questions. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or if you feel I haven't addressed your question adequately.
