What Causes Chronic Pain In The Fingers?

Yes I m 47 years old and I have been having excruciating pain in my fingers in just the past two days. I ve had these little knots on my fingers that I thought was arthritis. It never has hurt till a couple of days ago. I can t sleep and it s very, very painful. I m using epsom salt to soak my hands and it feels a little better, but I wanted to know if I have gout or arthritis. I m not going to be able to go to my doctor till Monday . Can you maybe give me some advice on home remedies till Monday?
