What Causes Chronic Pain In The Hip And Groin Upon Exertion?

My husband has pain in his right hip and groin area. At rest the pain is about 1-2. Upon exertion the pain goes to a 9 and causes him to feel nauseated. He also has a low grade fever of just under 100. He is never ill, no meds, doctor says his health is excellent. Age 70. Can we wait overnight and see PCP?

1. At his age [70], I'm of the following opinion [although unable to examine him directly], because it requires mandatory physical examination

i. consult an Orthopedic surgeon/ Rheumatologist to exclude causes like senile gangrene [increases on exertion], tuberculosis [low-grade fever] and ask for Hb%, WBC, ESR, C- reactive protein, RA test and X-Ray Hip.

PS. It could be because of systemic inflammatory disease like osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis], DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder], Nerve irritation [Sciatica], and because there are ways to treat the pain and other associated symptoms so along with medicines continued physical therapy should be encouraged.
