What Causes Chronic Pain In The Lower Back Radiating To The Leg?

I have had 3 Micro-D and 2 Laminectomy s, last one about 5 years ago and the last couple of days have felt the same pain again. it starts in my lower back on the left side and goes down through to my hip and my leg and foot. I am very active and thought that i just pulled a muscle but I know that pain and its hard to stand straight up after sitting for 30 minutes and feels weird to walk like my feet are off. I have taken IB and ICE with no relief, I am in the emergency med field and my wife is an RN so not to rush to judgement but I know that pain and I am very concerned since it has been days it getting a little worse everyday.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This directs towards a nerve problem and could have a spinal involvement . I would really like you to get an MRI lumbar spine done and see if there is actually and involvement and get a full neurological check up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshita
