What Causes Chronic Pain In The Lower Right Abdomen?

Granddaughter is experience severe pain in lower right abdomine, with dry mouth and throat. Cannot swallow anything, even water, has not been able to eat anything for 3 days. Went to ER last Friday and had a couple tests which were non-conclusive. Dr. thought she might have early onset of mono but tests did not show any evidence. They gave her some prescriptions for pain and nausea and told her to take ibuprofane. She seemed better on Saturday but is now complaining of even worse symptom/pain.

Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, please follow like this:

Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [gastroenterologist] and do few investigations like [Colonoscopy, CT scan, USG whole abdomen and stool exam].

Do follow lifestyle modification like this:

1) Try to eliminate high-gas foods like carbonated beverages, vegetables especially cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower and raw fruits.

2) Try to eliminate FODMAPS from diets so consult with your dietitian to make a chart.

3) Add fiber supplements.Taking fiber supplements, with fluids may help control constipation. If fiber doesn't help symptoms, ask your doctor to prescribe an osmotic laxative such as milk of magnesia or polyethylene glycol.

4) Discuss with your Doctor about antispasmodic medications for pain like dicyclomine and antibiotic [Rifaximin].

5) Try to manage stress by doing deep breathing and Progressive relaxation exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
