Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Pain In The Upper Right Side Of The Chest?
I have a chronic pain in my upper right side. Presents itself on both side - sometimes in the chest and neck area and sometimes in the shoulder blade area. Sometimes spreads to the right side of my neck. No recent trauma or overuse. Have had it for many years. Seems to be getting more frequent.
Your symptoms can be related to muscle strain or poor posture. I would recommend to do an X-ray of the shoulder to exclude abnormalities in the bone.
Meanwhile, I would recommend to use anti inflammatory medication for the pain such as Ibuprofen three times a day. I also recommend to use anti inflammatory cream for local application. Heat compresses can also be very helpful in relieving the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
General & Family Physician
