What Causes Chronic Pelvic Pain With Mild Fever?

My family has had the flu recently and our 17-year-old daughter caught it today. She quit throwing up at around 4 this evening. Now she is running 100.2 -degree fever as of a 1/2 hour ago and has stabbing pain in the front of her pelvis around her groin. Not sure if we should medicate since she has the flu or what this could be. Any advice?

Hi,

I am sorry for the flu issues you are facing.

Unfortunately, your 17 year old daughter is going through a viral gastroenteritis (the gut flu). This explains why she is having 100.2 degree fever with pain on the pelvis and throwing up.

If she keeps throwing up, then, should start iv fluid replacement therapy in ER. If the vomiting stopped, should give:
- plenty of fluids (water, juice, yogurt) with oral rehydration salt (ORS)
- BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, toast)
- probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
- tasectan or pepto bismol
- antacids

For the moment, she needs iv replacement therapy in ER, so, send her to consult a physician until vomiting will stop.
