What Causes Chronic Sinusitis Despite Taking Antibiotics?

I first got sick a week before Christmas, I was diagnosed with the flu without even being tested. A week later I saw my primary MD and he told me it was a sinus infection and put me on antibiotics. A week later I woke up sicker than ever and went to the ER and they did a CT scan and discovered severe sinusitis. I was placed on yet another antibiotic.. Here we are a week into my antibiotics and STILL not getting better. I have a cold sensation in my chest when I breath like I walked out into cold weather. It's constant. I use my inhaler more frequent and my chest feels achy. I'm tired of feeling fatigued and sickly all the time. I need a second opinion

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that along with sinus infection you might also be having lingering symptoms of flu leading to chest congestion and cold feeling or there can also be associated lung infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist or Pulmonologist and get evaluated and he can also advise you blood tests and chest x ray to rule ut the cause for the symptoms..
You can be advised a long course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Phenylephrine, anti allergics like levocetrizine..
You can also be advised to do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
You can do saline nasal irrigations and continue using steroid inhalers..
void spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of warm water..
Take a soft diet and do sufficient rest..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
