What Causes Chronic Spasms In The Abdomen?

For the last 5 years (since I gave birth via C-section) I have been having spasms in my stomach. At first it was just every now and then and they were painful, almost like a Charlie horse. It has gradually gotten worse. Now it s like some type of tremor all day and every now and then the really painful one. I ve seen a gyn and a primary care. what is this? who do I see?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The painful stomach can be caused by many conditions and depending on the exact location a doctor may be able to differentiate which is the cause in your case.
If you have constipation with the pain then you will need to use Movicol regularly and make sure you drink plenty of water.
Pain in the upper tummy can be caused by the stomach and omeprazole 40 mg a day may help.

If the above treatments do not help or there is any worsening, you will need to have an ultrasound of the abdomen and possibly other tests to determine the cause and further treatment

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
