What Causes Chronic Swelling In Lymph Nodes Below Jaw Line?

My lymphnodes under my jaw bones have been swollen since Aug. 2014.I went to my doctor in October for it because they were sore and myv throat hurt. I have what I assume is lymphnodes on back part of roof a mouth they are a little larger than pea size and they have been that way for approximately a year. Approximately year ago my elbows became sore and swollen and I have a lump in crease of elbows on both arms. I have nodules onboth thyroids and a few small ones on throat. Had needle biopsy in December 2014 and came back three normal and three inconclusive. Could I have all of these things showing up but nothing being wrong with me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Chronic swelling of lymph nodes below the jawline can be caused by various factors, including infections, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Infections such as strep throat, mononucleosis, and tooth abscesses can cause lymph nodes to swell. Autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis can also cause lymph nodes to become enlarged. Rarely, lymphoma or other cancers can cause chronic swelling of lymph nodes.

Given your other symptoms, such as sore and swollen elbows, nodules on both thyroids, and small nodules on your throat, it is important to continue working with your healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. A biopsy may be necessary to confirm a diagnosis and determine the appropriate course of treatment. While multiple symptoms can occur without an underlying medical condition, it is important to rule out potential causes and seek appropriate medical care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
