What Causes Clicking Sound In The Ears While Swallowing?
All of a sudden I am hearing a BLOOP (water dripping) sound within my left ear. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD CLICKING EARS WHEN SWALLOWING OR YAWNING SINCE I WAS CHILD, WHICH THE DR TOLD MY PARENTS THERE WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. AS FAR AS THE CLICKING/DRIP SOUND : COULD IT BE DUE TO MY FIRING A REVOLVER SOME WEEKS BACK? WHEN I FIRED IT, MY EAR WAS RINGING VERY LOUD, AND I COULD NOT HEAR VERY WELL, TOOK ALMOST AN HOUR TO GO AWAY.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of clicking sound in the ears while swallowing, Usually the crackling sound produced during swallowing occur due to condition known as eustachian tube dysfunction and accumulation of fluid in the middle ear. It your case it seems to be due to injury to ear drum due to loud voice of firing rifle.
I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination . and discuss above possibilities. Doctor may examine with otoscope and audiometry testing and clean the ear to remove ear wax and prescribe antibiotics like Azithromycin 500 mg for 5 days. - Keep your ears dry and cover them while bathing. - Apply warm compresses on external ear 2-3 times a day. - Do Not touch or prick ear.
