What Causes Clogged Ears Along With Redness And Swelling After Using NEO/POLYM/HC?

I HAVE USED NEO/POLY/HC 1% OTIC EAR DROPS 3 TIMES TODAY. I WAS TOLD MY EAR WAS SWOLLEN AND RED AND AFTER I USED THE EARDROPS MY EAR WOULD BE IRRIGATED. MY EAR HAS BEEN STOPPED UP AND AM BARELY ABLE TO HEAR SINCE USING THESE DROPS TODAY. should I KEEP USING THEM OR SHOULD I STOP AND HAVE MY EAR IRRIGATED NOW. MY HEARING IN THIS EAR IS ALMOST TOTALLY CLOGGED UP AND IT FEELS LIKE WATER IN MY EAR THAT WILL NOT COME OUT. PLEASE HELP. THANKS.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have clogged ears along with redness and swelling which could be due to ear infection. But there can be other reasons also like eustachian tube dysfunction or ear wax accumulation . I would suggest you to take few preventive measures.

- You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin you are not allergic to it along with Ibuprofen and Loratadine.
- Put Otogesic ear drops 2-3 times a day.
- Take proper rest and apply dry warm compresses to ear .
- Try to avoid excessive use of mobile as it will put more pressure.

If symptoms keeps on persisting you should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Get all the lab tests done for proper examination. Doctor may remove wax .
