Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Every so often, my ears will feel clogged, it s difficult to hear, and every time I open my mouth, my ears will pop. The popping doesn t relieve the pressure or help me hear, and if I m eating, they will pop with every bite. I m not at high a altitudes, near water, or have allergies. The pressure goes away after 20 minutes or so.
The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as ETD that is eustachian tube dysfunction. Eustachian tube is a small tube that connects middle ear to oral cavity and balance the pressure between the two . ETD occur when the tube get blocked fully or partially due to mucous produce by infections like upper respiratory track infection , post nasal drip and sinusitis , Specially when these infection left untreated . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Your doctor will examine your ear canals and eardrums, and your nasal passages and the back of your throat. Doctor may recommend you few exercises like blowing air with closed nose and mouth ,swallowing, yawning or chewing gum . Doctor may also prescribe decongestant to reduce the swelling of the lining of the tubes , antihistamine and antibiotics . Doctor may also implanting pressure equalization tubes .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
