What Causes Cold, Coughing And Red Patches Behind The Ears?

Hi! My 14 month old has a cold (we went to the doctor 2 days ago). He s been very congested and coughing. When he woke up from his nap today, he had red splotchy patches behind his ears and a couple spots on his forehead. Is this anything to be worried about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, most likely viral infection responsible. The red patches behind ear are secondary to lymph node enlargement and the rash over forehead are part of systemic symptoms of viral fever itself. Supportive care with hydration maintenance, anti pyretic, multi vitamins, antibiotics in selected cases help to relieve the event faster and smoother.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
