What Causes Confusion And Disorientation After Taking Gabapentin?

my husband s dr increased his dosage of gabapentin from 200 mg in the AM; 200 mg in the PM; and 100 mg at bedtime - to 300 mg 3 x a day. He has been on the new dossage for 10 days and he has become confused and disoriented. Is this common for the increased dossage to cause this? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Confusion and disorientation is a possible side effect of Gabapentin so increases of the dose are very likely the cause.
I would recommend you to speak with the doctor as soon as possible on these symptoms and get the needed medical assistance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
