Hello and welcome to HCM,
Difficulty in swallowing can be due to some disorder in throat or esophagus.
A clinical assessment of the throat by an ENT surgeon is required.
If nothing nothing significant is found in the throat then esophagus needs to be examined with upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy to look for any web or growth in the esophagus.
An enlarged thyroid gland can compress the esophagus and trachea and thus can lead to difficulty in swallowing.
However, deranged thyroid functions are not likely to cause any difficulty in swallowing.

Thanks and take care
