What Causes Constant And Severe Itching All Over Body?

why am I experiencing severe itching on my entire body and receiving no relief from topical prescription. have had condition for about three weeks and most itching starts in the evening and continues through the night - therefore loss of sleep as I must get up to feel more comfortable. I am 91 years old and have CHF.

Hi,

I appreciate your query. You seem to have senile pruritus. Due to aging process, I think your skin might be sensitive and dry.

And that's why, you might have generalised pruritus. You consult dermatologist. Investigations may be done to rule out DM,renal diseases and other internal disease.

Olive oil massaging may be done during bath.Moisturising cream may be applied in morning after bath. Fluocinolone cream may be applied at night on affected parts. Avoid soap at bath. Keep the skin moist. If needed,you may take antihistaminics like levocetirizine 10 mg daily at night. You might get good relief from itchiness.
