Addiction Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

I cannot say in your particular case, but generally, it is common to sprain muscles with coughing. Pain in the lung area is often felt in shoulders running out to the hands. However, if you brace yourself with the arms with coughing, the arms can get sprained. This generally responds to aspirin like drugs pretty fast.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
