What Causes Constant Chest Burning While On Nexium Post An Endoscopy Test?

I had an endoscopy 10 days ago with biopsies. Diagnosed with GERD, hiatal hernia, and Barrett s esophagus. I have been taking nexium 40mg daily and made dietary changes. My reflux seems well controlled, but I have a constant burning in my chest which was not there before the procedure. Any clue what this could be? Could this be from the biopsies?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, biopsies can cause similar kind of burning sensations.
Biopsy sites will cause burning when they come in contact with stomach acid.
So burning is expected upto 2 weeks after Biopsy.
Along with nexium and dietary changes, you should follow these steps also for better symptomatic relief.
1. Go for walking after meals.
2. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep your self hydrated.
3. Quit smoking and Alcohol if you have these habits.
4. Keep 2-3 pillows pillows under head in the bed to prevent reflux.
5. You can also start anesthetic liquid (mucaine gel) before meals to reduce burning.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
