Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I sit up or lay down, I get dizzy--head is spinning. There s a brief gap between moving from vertical to horizontal and then things start spinning. It happened when I got up in the middle of the night yesterday. I was wobbly walking. And now when I m going to bed the next day, the same thing is happening. What is the possible cause?
The symptoms you explain are similar to BPPV (benign paroxismal positional vertigo) which as the name indicates is a benign condition, not serious, and easily treated in the office with some maneuvers the doctor may do called Epley maneuver. Almost 80-90% of the patients significantly improve with only one session.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
