What Causes Constant Ear Pain With Popping Sound While Swallowing?
I have a earache that is constant. Have seen my PCP and as put on Cipro. The discomfort lessened, but did ot go away completely. It feels like something behind my eardrum...or like I cant get fluid out of that ear when trying to yawn etc. There has been some tenderness of the outer ear, but nothing can be seen that would cause a problem. Sometimes there is aching around the ear especially below and behind the ear. I don t have TMJ pain. When I swallow it sounds like a popping or crackling in my inner ear.

The constant ear pain with popping sound while swallowing indicates middle ear infection with involvement of eustachian tube giving pressure changes.
A thorough ENT evaluation with audiometry will help better with or without CT scan of the area as per the choice of the consultant.
