What Causes Constant Hiccups And Burps While Feeling Hungry?

When I am really hungry I get a combination hiccups and burps. My husband calls them the hicurps . This has happened for years. They will stop after I begin eating something. What is going on? Also get them sometimes after eating, if I was really hungry, but they are pretty easily suppressed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Getting frequent hiccups and burps could happen due to acute gastritis along with esophagitis or due to presence of certain growth or tumour around gastro-esophageal junction.
Kindly get the following investigations done to know what could be the cause, so that it could be appropriately treated.
1. Barium swallow and meal follow through.
2. Upper GI endoscopy with gastric & esophageal mucosal biopsy.
Kindly consult Gastroenterologist for appropriate evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
