What Causes Constant Hissing Sound In The Head?

Hi. I have a consistent hissing sound inside my head. It comes and goes as I move my head and mouth but it sounds like hissing or like someone is shaking a box of sand back and forth. or like one of those amazon rain sticks. It s driving me crazy.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be tinnitus. Most probably it is related to problems of the inner ear. As first-line management, you can take drugs like betahistine for symptomatic relief.

In severe cases, you have to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. An MRI brain may be required to look for any lesion or pathology in the brain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
