What Causes Constant Itching On The Heel Despite Taking Medication?

I had my workmans comp doc prescribe me bacitracin for a laceration on my heel; I put it on for the second time this evening and its itching very badly; He had told me to stop using neosporin because he thought I was having a reaction to it; now this is making the wound itch worse; am I allergic to this too?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction.

I suggest using antihistamines such as Levocetirizine.

I also suggest using Calmine lotion for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
