What Causes Constant Lower Back Pain?

Hi. I have been sick for about 6 weeks now. It started with constant dull pain in my lower back in the left side that progeessed to severe for a short time and dull pain in the upper abdominal pain under my left and right rib cage. I started to itch and have mild muscle spasms. My blood work showed high eos (5.7%), high direct bilirubin (1.6), slightly elevated anion gap (17) and very normal alt, ast, and alkaline phosphate levels. I was given a ct of my abdomen that showed no abnormalities with my organs. I was also given ultrasound of kidneys, liver, bile duct, gallbladder, and pancreas that showed no issues. I received a hida scan thay was perfecr. The pain has now been isolated to my upper right abdominal area. I still itch and have spasms. Occasionally I have paleish stool that floats but it has been less frequent. I also have a slight elevation of blood pressure. I have had some more gas and digestive issues. I am extremely healthy with!y diet and exercise and do not drink at all. I am a 26 year old male. This has gone on for a long time and I desperately need help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I supposed you have a condition called chronic pancreatitis. Therefore, I suggest you do a serum amylase test. Reach out to a gastroenterologist close to you. Meanwhile, take some NSAID eg: Tab ibuprofen for 1 week.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Chibitam Obia, General & Family Physician
