What Causes Constant Lower Stomach Pain With Gas?

Hi Dr. Grief: I have constant lower stomach pain. It feels like a very bad gas pain which never goes away. A few months ago I was diagnosed with GERD and have been taking Nexium which hasn t helped at all. I had an endoscopy, colonoscopy and a ct scan a few months ago and all were negative. At that time I was not experiencing this kind of lower pain....the pain at that time was higher up in the chest area. What do you think? Thank you!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

GERD can be associated with bloating and abdominal pain, though the pain is normally in the upper part of the abdomen.

The tests you would have done ( endoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan) would have shown up any abnormality within the upper and lower aspects of the gastrointestinal tract.

Food intolerance can sometimes cause abdominal pain in addition to other symptoms.

You may also want to consider whether the pain is originating from any structure within the pelvis.

I hope this helps
