What Causes Constant Pain And Discomfort In The Chest?

Hi Doctor, I have been having an undiagnosed illness in the last 9 years. I had thorough check up but no one could find any problems. I have constant pain, discomfort in my chest. Mostly on the left hand side. It is so bad that I can barely talk. It hurts more when I talk. It also drags my energy down to zero. I had CT and PET scan. Both showed my heart and my lung are normal. I have no problem breathing. I used to be very active, playing tennis every day and hiked for several miles at a time without any problems. I went to Johns Hopkins for 5 years, UCSF and Stanford. No one could help me. At this point I do not know where else to go and what else to do. I am desperate to get my health back. Please help. Thank you in advance. Mai Dolch

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Since all the major tests seem to be normal, I feel it could be either simple mild muscle catch to gastritis, I advise you to follow simple steps:

1. Use tab Myoril 8mg thrice daily for 5 days
2. Try to avoid spicy, oily foods
3. Use Pantop D (pantoprazole D) tablet twice daily morning and evening, half an hour before food for entire 1 month
4. Include multivitamins, omega 3 fatty acids capsule supplements
5. Adequate ice packs thrice daily for 2 weeks

Visit a pain physician because personally, as a pain physician, I examine with a detailed history to know the exact site and root cause of pain with options like local anesthetic+steroid injections if solely its a muscle origin or others if its something else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
