It may be due to fungal infection in the area if kept unshaved for longer time in hot and humid environment. Yes it may be aggravated by gym and activity if it is due to fungal infection as activity increases moisture down there. If you are obese, friction may cause infection in the area. Some people have this pain due to hemorrhoids. You need proper evaluation by your physician. Until then, apply Hydrocortisone/Clotrimazole cream along with Ibuprofen by mouth.
