What Causes Constant Pain In Arm Along With Tingling And Numbness In Fingers?

Mt left outside upper arm has major pain and some pain in my forearm. The only thing that helps is holding my arm over my head or cradling it on my chest. That helps in reducing the pain, but it doesn t go away. It s constant and it feels like I was punched in the arm by mike Tyson. My left thumb and index finger tingle and are numb on the inside but they don t hurt. The arm issue hurts so much and constantly that even pain pills won t help.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM team.

Understanding your concern. Constant pain in arm along with tingling and numbness in fingers could be because of many reasons like nerve damage and decrease in blood supply due to injury, disease like multiple sclerosis or carpal tunnel syndrome .Sometimes frequent activity or heavy weight lifting can also cause such symptoms .You should properly stretch your arms before doing such activities. What you can do for now is stop activity which causes this sensation, give rest to your arm ,ice your arm for 10 mins twice daily and you can also take ibuprofen or acetaminopehn for pain .If this condition doesn't get better consult orthopedics surgeon ,who can order elecromyography ,MRI ,blood test and take medical history to find out the exact cause.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
