What Causes Constant Pain In Left Abdomen And Vomiting?

My husband has had upper left abdominal pain(close to ribs)for 3 years.Had a ct scan 2 1/2 yrs ago,was normal.Went to ER 6 months ago, they checked his heart because pain is so far up,said heart was good and it was probably acid reflux. The pain is constant and he throws up sometimes and runs a fever.

Hello,
Thanks for writing in to HCM.
Thankfully the heart condition is good so we can rule out cardiovascular causes of epigastric pain.
Kindly consult a gastroenterologist as a Gastrointestinal endoscopy may be required for diagnosing the primary cause of the pain.

Also, the doctor may put him on proton pump inhibitors like Tablet Omeprazole 20mg half an hour before breakfast for atleast 2 months.

Kindly ask him to make lifestyle modifications like:
1. Avoid oily and spicy food.Take bland diet rich in fibres and fruits and
vegetables.
2. Avoid Alcohol and smoking.
3. Donot fast.
4. Donot lie down immediately after meals.
5. Have your dinner atleast 2 hours before bed time.
this should help.
Regards,
Dr.Riyanka
