What Causes Constant Pain In The Abdomen?

I have had constant pain in my stomach (under ribs) and had an attack whereby i was doubled up for an hour on thursday evening. I am fit and eat a low fat diet. Am vegetarian and some times eat fish. I had gallbladder removed 12 years ago. The pain is very similar to this and i have been taking paracetemol for the pain and rennie for the indigestion. I visited the pharmacist yesterday who prescribed buscapan. I now have pale stools and am worried because this gnawing pain is not going away.

General Surgeon 's  Response
pain abdomen could be due to many reasons
1. a gastric ulcer usually presents with pain in the area below sternum but that is associated with burning in the Chest
2. could be due to renal stones which is severe pain and doesn't respond to oral analgesics
3. could be pancreatitis
you need to be evaluated properly and have your baseline investigations like blood count, urine R/E, ultrasound done, serum amylase and CT for pancreatitis.... these will help with reaching the diagnosis
