What Causes Constant Pain In The Abdomen?

Why do I have constant stomach aches and I go poo a lot ? I had a stomach virus almost a month ago and ever since then I’ve gotten a lot of stomach aches. I’ve tried pepto bismal but that only made my feces black. Thanks in advance. Also my feces has sort of a sweet smell to it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Stomach virus will cause changes in bowel movements depending on the severity of the symptoms. You say that you still have stomach aches and smelly feces. I highly recommend to run some diagnostic tests:
- Fecal analysis and culture
- Stool examination for ova/parasites
- Abdominal ultrasound
Until you run the tests, I advise to take:
- Probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora.
- Change food habits: avoid oily/processed foods; chilly/spicy foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
