Hi,

Noted your history of lump in throat that pains when you get flu.
The lump is usually due to hypertrophy of the mucosa or lymphoid follicles.
Hence it can enlarge and cause pain when you get reduced immunity due to viral infection.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Take Ibuprofen as per your weight as this will help to reduce or control pain as well as it is very good anti-inflammatory.
Consult your Doctor and request for throat swab and tests of blood.
Povidone iodine gargles.
Multivitamins as antioxidants.
Antibiotic if your Doctor feels so.
Any other medicines as would be advised in addition.
Complete the courses till cured.
Also watch for the foods, beverages, factors like allergens that instigate or enhance your symptoms and stop these altogether.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
