What Causes Constant Pain In The Kidney Area?

My friend has constant feeling of slight pain in kidney area, He has had kidney stones in the past. He had an altrasound and now they are calling him back for a CT scan of stomach and pelvic area. He also wants him to have some blood work done. The ultrasound shows some masses. Dr. told him he is not worried just wants to check it out. This does sound somewhat alarming.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
if there is mass in Ultrasound then go for CT scan. if only muscle gaurding and no any mass in Ultrasound then go for IVU (Xrays) and Urinanalysis (Urine DR)
this is may be due to Kidney stones
