What Causes Constant Pain In The Lower Back?

I am experiencing constant low back pain and nerve related issues. I had 3 back surgeries in 2007 for spinal stenosis and degenerative discs. I am 68 years old and am looking for relief from the pain and discomfort. Surgery is not a solution since I now have an ICD. I was taking hydrocodone that my wife had for a previous surgery and a once a day dose was adequate to control the pain better than the extra strength Tylenol I am currently taking.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Issue seems to be nerve compression through spondylosis related changes in the vertebra. Apart from analgesic tablets, I recommend assisted physiotherapy local application of analgesic spray or ointment control of blood sugar and body weight.

Wish you fine recovery and health.

Regards.
