What Causes Constant Pain In The Neck?

Yes. I have a constant pain in my neck area. Left side. No matter what i do it is always achy. I tried elevating my head. Pillows between my head and shoulder sometimes no pillow to try to get comfortable. I am age 53 and this have been going on for a while now. I started an aspirin regime thru my doctor a couple of months ago. I realized that it has gotten worst since. Could it be a blood clot?
