What Causes Constant Pressure In Forehead And Migraines?

I have constant pressure on my forehead. Like a mask. Then it also has a pulsing throbbing feeling. I ve been given migraines medication been in the hospital but get no relief. I ve ha 2 ct scans and blood work. Even lower dose of morphine didn t help. This has been going on for 2 months. When I feel the throbbing I m able to function through life with it but it always there. Then I get these really bad spells where it puts me out of commission for at least a week. That s when the mask of pressure or force is on my forehead

Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made the following clinical explanation-
Throbbing or pulse like headache is the typical pattern of a migraine headache. It is episodic, again makes it a possibility likely for migraine. Some of the other typical symptoms are-
1)nausea
2)Photophobia and phonophobia(headache worsens on exposure to bright light and sound)
3)Visual aura

Please check whether these symptoms are present in your case.If yes, then it can indeed be migraine.
However, mask of constant pressure on forehead is a feature of Tension type headache(TTH).So,you seem to be having overlapping features of migraine as well as TTH.

Please start therapy with low dose amitriptyline, which will take care of preventive aspect of migraine as well as TTH.Additionally, abortive therapy for migraine like Triptans or Ergots should be taken. Please discuss with your physician to start you on anti-migraine therapy.I hope it helps.
