What Causes Constant Ringing In The Ears?

Hi I have ringing in my left ear only and it also is like the sound of water flowing. The ringing is kind of constant but it's like the blood flowing around your body noise. I always get a whooping sound like pressure releasing when I stand up after lying down a long time. Also if I hiccup my left ear makes a crackling sound. I've had this on and off for about a year. I've had a MRI scan, ear test and everything was normal. The initial problem was an infection I believe as I would always get dizzy. I do experience dizzy spells now and again.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of constant ringing in the ears which seems to be due to tinnitus caused by ear infection. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to simple ear wax to more serious acoustic neuroma like condition. Avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain hygiene of ear canal. Put Otogesic ear drops. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises , earwax build-up , middle ear infection. Doctor may treat it according to the diagnosis , he/she may prescribe medicine like eprisone and antibiotics ,

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
