I have been suffering from a terrible headache for a few months now it seems to become worse when i cough or sneeze, it is so painful, it is not constant but i have it everyday, taking paracetamol does not work, when i lay down to sleep it also causes my head to hurt, it is on the right side lower part of the back of my head

There are many causes of headache from Simple to serious causes . You need to get tested to know what is causing you the headache .
I would recommend you to get your vision tested and if it is normal get MRI Brain scan done and revert back .
Your condition seems to be due to a condition called Migraine . This is a condition where headache occurs on one side of the head, usually triggered by stress , lack of sleep or starvation.
There are specific medications which used will reduce the frequency and intensity of headache drastically. But before putting you on Migraine medicines I would recommend you to get the scan done to rule out other possible cause .
