I have refractory depression and MDD as well as social phobia but new symptoms have popped up recently that I don t think are related like my dr says. I know they continue with my mental illness but they seem different and never experienced these with depression before. I sleep 20 hours a day up from 10 I m constantly tired even after sleeping 20 hours I have put on 50 pounds in weight in last 6 months I ve quit smoking but it s getting harder and harder for me to breath I m constantly out of breath and any physical activity results in me sweating profusely for 30 min up to hours idk what is wrong with me

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Routine physical activities like swimming or jogging will help to lose extra weight. Conditions like hypothyroidism must be ruled out as it will lead to similar symptoms. A thyroid function test can be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
