What Causes Constant Sour Taste In Mouth After Wisdom Teeth Removal?

I had my wisdom teeth out 10 days ago. Now there is an open hole on one side on the bottom and it has a constant sour salty taste that makes my mouth taste bad and my breath smell bad. I did 7 days of antibiotic. The taste and smell started last night. Is this normal? Or an infection?

Hi..
Can understand your concern...

As per your complain it seems that the symptoms you are experiencing are due to infection in the extraction socket which can be either due to any remaining tooth piece or any foreign body inclusion in the extraction socket leading to infection and pus formation and the sour salty taste is due to pus discharge which is appearing in saliva and causing foul smell and taste..

I would suggest you to consult your dentist and get evaluated and in case it is due to any remaining root piece or foreign body removal of the same followed by irrigation with hydrogen peroxide, betadine and saline can help along with oral intake of antibiotics..

It doesn't seen to be a dry socket as you did not indicate to have any pain which is the first sign of dry socket..

But anything can be confirmed after a clinical examination and x ray if required..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
