What Causes Constant Stabbing Pain In Forearm And Fingers After Carpal Tunnel Surgery?
I had double carpal tunnel surgery a year ago. I am still having nerve pain and pain in arms thumbs fore arms and burning unla nerve on right arm that i originally injured at work . I had severe pain in my right arm as my original injury. Emg said my left arm was worse. I know i have trigger finger in my right middle finger related to my surgery. I take many pills for pain. But i get this severe stabbing pain in my rihht fore arm and my fingers are severely sensitive to being wet and cold. What is this from? Never damage?
As per my surgical experience, the severe stabbing pain on constant basis that involving forearm, fingers after carpal tunnel surgery is most likely in concern with possible damage or compression of ulnar or median nerve. In my clinic, after examination of sensory and motor function of concerned upper limb with comparison to opposite one, I suggest to undergo nerve conduction study or MRI of the concerned region for better anatomic evaluation of the underlying cause.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
