What Causes Constant Vaginal Bleeding After Mirena Removal?

Hi I ve been bleeding for 30 days now and have gotten heavier in the last 3 days. I had my mirena removed then also. Is this common? Ive been prescribed primolut and cklophapram for a short time but I am worried about the side effects as have suffered migraines in the past.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The vaginal bleeding is normal after Mirena removal.
The Mirena removal creates a state of hormonal shock, because now there is excess estrogen.
It is this excess estrogen that ultimately causes the uncomfortable symptoms in your body after Mirena removal including heavy, irregular vaginal bleeding and severe cramps.
It will relieve gradually.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
