What Causes Constipation After Taking Antibiotic For Fever?

My daughter (3y and 1m) got cough for about 2 weeks. She got fever about three days - very high 102 F. I took her to doc yesterday. The doc gave her 1 antibiotic and 1 paracetamol and 1 ibuprofen. Last two days she didn t do any potty. But today she did several times - all liquid. Even when she does pee, she is leaving few drops of stool. Her tummy is full of gas. She is releasing them time to time but seems not enough. It is something worrying?

As your daughter is on antibiotics for fever the antibiotics the diarrhoea is being caused due to it as the antibiotics as it disturbs the process of digestion and absorption of the food by disrupting the good bacteria of intestine along with harmful bacteria leading to diarrhoea..

Mostly the cessation of antibiotic intake only can lead to complete relief from diarrhoea, but in case if the diarrhoea is severe you should immediately stop the antibiotics and consult your Paediatrician and get evaluated..

Adding probiotics like curd in diet can help in retaining bacterial flora and improve diarrhoea..
Any anti-diarrhoea medications should be given only after examination and advise by the Paediatician..
Feed her with plenty of water and other liquids to prevent dehydration..
