What Causes Constipation And Abdominal Bloating While On Valacyclovir And Gabapentin?
My doctor just put me Valacyclovir 500mg 1 a day and also Gabapentin 300mg 2 times a day to start. I am very sensitve to meds and have IBS constipation. I am on 2nd day of these and am feeling very bloated and constipated but I don t see this is a side effect of either of these meds?

Hi,
It may be due to gastritis associated with the tablets.
As a first line management, you can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief. You can also take laxatives like Lactulose for constipation.
Generally, these are transient symptoms and will settle by itself.
