What Causes Constipation With Alternating Diarrhea And Left-sided Stomach Pain?

I have been diagnosed w/IBS, had colonectomy, am diabetic, high bp., now fibromyalgia, been good GI wise for over 12 yrs. Now symptoms of constipation w/diarrhea and left side pain have come back. My mother died with colon cancer that grew into the ureter and into blood vessels. Evidently, hereditary, both her brothers had colon cancer. However, she also had myelodysplastis. Should I ask Dr. To test me for it and will treatment help the colon issues?

Hello,

It may be due to irritable bowel syndrome.

For further assessment you may require Colonoscopy, stool analysis after gastroenterologist consultation.

Till then for pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Keep your self hydrated.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

Take soft diet.
