What Causes Constipation With Blood In Stools And Upper Abdominal Pain?
My 16 yo daughter has been struggling w some undiagnosed stomach problems. Sometimes she is constipated and has blood in her stool , her upper stomach will have pains that s double her over and most recently she says she feels like she needs to burp but cannot She had an abdominal x ray that was normal has tried an acid blocker that did not help. As she is 16 and has not seen any results from going to the dr she does not wish to go back. Any thoughts on what is causing these symptoms? Should she be scoped?
If it is difficult to have endoscopy done, you can consider a barium meal for her.
This is an imaging procedure that would allow a look at the esophagus and stomach to see if there are any likely causes for the pain. Meanwhile she can continue the use of medications such nexium, prilosec, prevacid to see if one of these helps.
In terms of the constipation, she can try : (1)at least 8 glasses of fluid daily (2)using at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily (3)can use a fiber supplement if this would help
I hope this helps
