What Causes Continuous Sneezing Along With Chest Pain?

I ve been sneezing very strongly & contiously for the past two days. It s prevented me from sleeping properly & I can t even go outside because I just keep sneezing. When I do sneeze I get this horrible pain in my chest and my back. It feels like violent scratching. I m afraid that something will bad will happen to a part of my insides, if not multiple parts. Is this possible?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of severe sneezing and pain in chest and back on sneezing, worried.
Sneezing of this extent indicates an allergic cause .
The pain in chest and back is due to activation of secondary respiratory muscles during hard sneezing as a part of body mechanism.
The costochondritis also can cause such pains as the muscles originate from ribs.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Control of sneezing.
Antihistamine.
Steroid nasal spray.
Oral steroids if required, needs a valid prescription of your Doctor.
Opinion and examination by an ENT Surgeon for further evaluation, investigations like Endoscopy, CT scan of nose and sinuses to see the secondary effects of allergy.
And further management as per the findings.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General and ENT Surgeon
